Lunar Eclipses - Total - September 17th 1997

Information:

A total lunar eclipse was visible across Australia. Twilight interfered with the late stages of the eclipse for observers in the Eastern States, however Perth was able to view the entire eclipse.

The circumstances of the eclipse are posted below: (WA Time)

Moon enters penumbra - 00:11
Moon enters umbra - 01:08
Moon enters totality - 02:15
Middle of Eclipse - 02:46
Moon leaves totality - 03:17
Moon leaves umbra - 04:25
Moon leaves penumbra - 05:22

Observation:

I observed the entire eclipse from my suburban backyard in both 10x50 binoculars and 8" telescope. It certainly was a beautiful event even with the naked eye.
