Information:

A total lunar eclipse will be visible across Australia. This will be the longest total eclipse of the century! It will also be the last chance to see a good total lunar eclipse from Australia till 2011.

FACTS:
- The moon passes almost dead center with the earths shadow
- Longest lunar eclipse since August 13th 1859
- Longest lunar eclipse till sometime after the year 3000

The circumstances of the eclipse are posted below: (WA Time - 16th July 2000)

Moon enters penumbra - 18:47
Moon enters umbra - 19:57
Moon enters totality - 21:02
Middle of Eclipse - 21:56
Moon leaves totality - 22:49
Moon leaves umbra - 23:54
Moon leaves penumbra - 01:04

Observation:

Had a big project at work that went live at 4am that morning... so I was very tired come the evening. I observed the eclipse from my backyard with my 80mm refractor. The eclipse was quite impressive, however the clouds kept getting in the way :(

Pictures:

I have a few average pictures that I will scan at some point...
